And the rest of us are just left a decade or more behind when we finally get any direction in life. For example I'd give anything NOW for a chance at being "great" at something. Just to have a single passion to dedicate my life to. For me that would probably be extreme sports. I know I have the mindset and dedication for it, and I'm motivated by getting better at the sports I do every day. But sometimes it just gets me down that all the people I admire like that have been doing these sports since they were little kids, meanwhile I'm starting at 20. There's just a wall there I can't go back and cross.
I know no matter how many hours I put it surfing for example, I'm never going to be as good as the people who already have over a decade of experience and often sponsorship have on me. I feel like it's like that for a lot of us, with any great passion, like now even stuff like coding and art to a degree get less and less entry level at even my young age every day.
Sidenote: i know the defense of this is usually: it sucks to be that dedicated as a kid, at least you got a childhood. But honestly, a lot of us had all the abuse and pressure of child stars, without any of the skillset to show for it in the end.
