How do you become successful in the eyes of society?

I just realized that when you have hardships going on in your life nobody really cares and nobody's really there for you. But if you have money then everybody will start to respect you and and treat you nicely. But when you are like going through a financial hardship then everybody just wants to ignore you. And I don't understand why some money considered so important in society. And sometimes when people make a lot of money for their financial situation improves, they start to have ego and consider themselves as a highly person and forget to be humble
