This is a perspective from an immigrant transman in the U.S., so I would love to hear some international perspective. When I open up my social media to try and see trans joy or immigrant joy, or even just joy period every video by someone who isn’t a white, thin, visibly straight, visibly cis person has a comment section full of hate. I stopped posting to socials simply because I don’t want to make myself accessible to those people. It’s really just making me feel hopeless to think that so many people hate so many other people for just existing or being happy. Is it like this everywhere? Is every other country worrying about falling into the same path the U.S. is heading, or are y’all doing better? What can we do here to do better? I’d rather fight against it than give in but it feels really difficult when it seems like you’re fighting for nothing.
