Why The American Education System Sucks

2 months ago 31

This is a serious post, not a hurr durr let's shit on the Americans for the nth time.

There are legitimate, tangible benefits for the government and large corporations to ruin the American education system.

Let's take one example: banks.

Banks make a huge chunk of their profit from interest on loans. Uneducated people are far more likely to take out massive loans, which they then struggle to pay back because they don't understand compounding interest. Of course, if they don't pay it back, the bank will take their property to compensate. This means that some people will take out other loans to pay off that loan. Which of course continues the cycle of debt, which uneducated people struggle to get out of.

Big Pharma and luxury brands:

Uneducated people also spend more, especially on things they don't actually need. As long as it's advertised well enough, people will buy it. You often see this with scam weight loss pills, supplements, and certain types of alternative medicine.

Government:

It's far easier to convince a voter if they have little understanding of the topic. If you make it sound bad, then it is bad. If you present the data in a certain way, then you influence the interpretation. Here's a factual example: Icecream purchases and murder rates go up and down at the same time. Icecream does not cause murder. It's actually the summer heat that makes people more restless, and anyone prone to violence will be spurred.

But if say, the enemy party was the icecream, you could present these two statistics together and let the audience "draw their own conclusion."

Gambling Industry:

I think we're all smart enough to understand why this is in the post. I'm quite sure there's some amount of money being invested somewhere to shittify schools.

I could go on but I think you get the gist.
