I'm 18, and recently received $5,000 (NZD) from my grandmother.
I have my eyes set on a PC as I've wanted one ever since I first saw how fun they are. I intend to use it for gaming with friends and potentially look at video editing as a side job.
Although I know I can probably find something decent for under $2k, I'm leaning more towards getting a brand new and high end build so that I can delay any upgrades I may need in the future. (Hopefully by then I will have found a job and can afford to buy parts myself)
Then again I'm not sure if I should be spending so much money on a PC and instead should be saving it or doing something else with the money.
The options I see are:
Go all out, buy the PC of my dreams.
Spend as little as I can and get a decent mid range PC and save the rest of the money.
Scrap the idea of getting a PC and just save all the money.
If anyone has any similar experiences or opinions, they would be much appreciated as I'm clueless.
