One of the thoughts I’ve had recently concerns the angle that Ukraine served several purposes, none of which included their own sovereignty.
1) Gather intelligence on Russian tactics in conventional war 2) Deplete Russian Armaments 3) Introduce a political topic that has no bearing on Americans as a means of distraction 4) Establish control of mineral resources for the sole purpose of denying the EU (possibly a stretch, but an opportunity that presented itself)
Remove left v right from the whole equation and consider this:
The intel community is concerned about Russia (rightfully or wrongly). They fund the proxy war under guise of helping allies, and prolong the war for a few years, monitoring Russian movement along with causing Russia to dig into the armament reserves from cold war stockpiles. The war drags on and it’s clear that Russia is regressing and we have captured as much info as we need. At the same time, it’s timed perfectly to be a partisan issue, and withdrawal is presented as a hot topic (muh 300 million to Ukraine which is a mix of military equipment, many of which is deprecated). Right wingers present the half truth as military assets being sent as cash payments (I’m sure there are SOME cash payments going over) and can immediately say that this is frivolous spending and spin this as being fiscally irresponsible (yet do nothing about inflation, money to certain countries in the Middle East, etc). They pull out, and at the last minute can strong arm a mineral deal to control raw Earth in that part of the world, continually increasing American hegemony.
All this talk about “Allies” is just emotionally charged nonsense
