Money not essential?

3 hours ago 6

Hey everybody, I’m still quite new to this Reddit thing, so please do bear with me & correct me if I’m wrong for trying to discuss this :)

So I’m currently twenty-four, and have worked since the day I turned eighteen. I was kicked out of my home at the age of nineteen, moved out of state to find work, twice, and I’ve finally settled back down in my home state, Florida. To say the least, I was in a very very bad spot for some years. A job opportunity opened up for me about a year ago and it’s absolutely changed my life! I do make close to six figure’s and I know it’s not much to some, but it’s a lot for me. I was able to get myself an apartment, pay off nearly all debt, get a bike and now a new car, soon enough.

I only have my brother in my life and one friend. After many of weeks offering up the same job opportunity, I still get the same response - “I don’t wanna do that”, or “money isn’t everything”. But these are the same people that I’m constantly paying for in order to hangout with them due to them not having money, and the same people that complain about not having money. I don’t understand.

I do understand that money isn’t everything, but I’m extremely hungry and would like to succeed in life, while also bringing those along with. Why wouldn’t people take this opportunity? I would like insight. Can it be a pride thing?
