Is this love?

Is what we all call love really love? Shouldn’t love just be? Shouldn’t love exist without conditions? Shouldn’t love live detached and yet connected to the target of our love?

I think we now call love something that has conditions, like that it should go both ways and we should get in return the same things we give.

Why is it that if we love a sport or an art it doesn’t matter what we get back from it while if we love a person our love is strictly linked to how and how much this person loves us back? Why if we “love” someone and this person doesn’t love us back the same way we do it instantly becomes what we call “toxic”? Why if the person we “love” doesn’t see life the same way we do we get angry at them rather than just love em?

I think this isn’t love, and I don’t even know how to call it.
