Im torn between my future

Im 18 in my final year of required education in the UK, and I cannot decide between my 2 dreams of becoming a film writer, or a game writer. My current situation is I am looking into becoming an animator for games and slowly working my way up to directing games, but I also have the dream of creating my own films. I just wish I could do both in my life and make a difference, but I am stuck on if this is even possible, my family is in the lower class, and I am terrified of working a 9 to 5 job for the rest of my life. I dont know if I should take a year out after education to decide what I want to do, but then I dont know if i will come to a decision.

Anyone have any advice? if its just small I need something, if its just some small idea of how its eventually going to work itself out, i need at least some control over my progress.
