It isn't like the old days where someone can join the JV team in their freshman year and work their way up. These days, if you haven't played since 5, you won't make JV. People love to suggest "rEc LeAgUe" when most towns don't have rec leagues available. For those that do, I guarantee you won't find a rec league team for football, wrestling, lacrosse, water polo, and so on.
