would you be weirded out if someone from middle school reached out?

i have known this person since middle school and we have never talked to eachother. Actually i was kinda annoying and obnoxious when I was a kid so he probably perceives me as that annoying kid and we haven’t seen each other since we graduated high school. but my senior year I kind of started getting a crush on him. We follow each other on Instagram, but it’s on an account I don’t even use anymore. I was thinking of following him on my active account and seeing if he would follow me back and if he did, I would probably send him a DM but I am so nervous because I have no business being after him. like I can just imagine him seeing my follow request and being absolutely weirded out and it’s gonna let him know I was thinking him. I feel like if I were to follow him I’m just sending out creepy vibes but a part of me thinks i’m overreacting? like even if we don’t develop any type of romantic relationship, it would be nice to have him as a friend. He’s pretty cool from what i see on his social. so what do I do? would you be weirded out if someone from middle school following you on Instagram out of nowhere?
