Why are the trees still standing?

Honest question. I know some people talk about direct energy weapons, lasers, microwaves etc.

But I just simply don’t understand: How can a fire be so raging that entire homes burn completely to the ground. No walls left, nothing but burnt earth….. yet trees and bushes seem to still stand in many pictures I have seen?

I don’t know enough about wildfires…. Are living trees so well protected by their water content?

Or is something fishy going on?
