What actually happened to all the bugs?

This lack of bugs I am observing seems to be a very recent development, even as late as 2018 I remember scraping bugs off my windshield at gas stations. But I haven't had to do that a single time since around 2020. It seems like there are almost no bugs anymore and it is honestly pretty fucking weird.

Since this started I have been living in Oregon and have been from Washington to Cali on both the interstate and coastal highway 101 as well as to Idaho both on highway 20 and interstate 84. None of these drives required the scraping of insects.
