Were the recovered craft “crashed” (either by human sabotage or malfunction) or “donated”?

A few months back a lot of the people that usually go on podcasts and talk about crash retrievals started using the word “donation” for the retrievals. Now there isn’t a single mention about it on the social media & YouTube circles. Anyone notice the same thing?
