"The Genius" by Theodore Dreiser

I just finished the book for the second time, and it made me cry again.. everything about this books and the characters are so special, yet so painful.

it's one of the rarest books that I hated the main character (Eugene) so much. I understand his weakness toward woman beauty and all, but his attitude toward Angela was so toxic and devastating. even though I liked Angela a lot, I have to mention that she was toxic as well. her strict rules against Eugene, and her way of talking about him to others were painful to read. the scene where she wanted to seduce Eugene by stripping her clothes and make him forget Suzanne was just disgusting.

but if I had to choose one between them, I'd say I pitied Angela more. she had to go through all Eugene's betrayal, and see her husband with an 18 years old girl (Suzanne) in THEIR HOUSE..

the ending was absolutely beautiful and sad at the same time. Eugene's tears for Angela, her death and the birth of little Angela.. it will take quite a lot of time to forget all these sorrows.

I absolutely love this book. maybe I will read it third time in the future. it's definitely worth it!
