We’re nearly at the point where we won’t be able to move freely within any modern city without being absolutely tracked. It's dreadful. “Bro, you’re already carrying your tracking device in your pocket. It’s always watching.” That’s true. But, say I ditch my phone for a private stroll. Did you know that your gait is as unique to you as your fingerprint? You would think that you can just avoid places infested with cameras. But, even leaving aside the fact that facial recognition technology has reached human levels of accuracy and that there are Ring/Nest cameras absolutely fucking everywhere, apparently, you would have to avoid any place that has WiFi. It is now possible to map human bodies in 3D space, even with obstructions, using WiFi. Works in the dark, where there are no cameras, and through walls. The technology is only getting better since they just keep applying the latest AI techniques to parse the signal from the noise. Now, just apply gait analysis to a 3D movie of you skulking around… I think I’m finally understanding this push to install 5G towers every half block. All your fap sessions recorded in high-fidelity soon. It’s all so tiresome. [link] [comments] |
