Somebody owes me money and is ghosting me instead of paying it back

I lent this guy $300, and he gave me back $600 and 2 ounces of 7/10 weed, at most worth $200. 2 years later I lent him $283 and gave him 60 (1mg) ativan pills worth about probably $200. He promised to give me back $500. He used to fill me on what's going on with the money situation, but mostly just make excuses as to why he couldn't pay me back my money at the time, but then he completely stopped contacting me on Instagram, so I texted him on Facebook and then he blocked me. So then I texted him on Instagram again and still no response. I had saw he liked something on Instagram so I know he's intentionally ignoring my messages. I feel like I've been made a fool of, and taken advantage of. I feel like I could've completely avoided this situation. Something felt fishy from the start, but I desperately wanted to double my money, because I basically had none. I know where he lives. What should I do? How should I look at them situation? I know I'm a dumbass but please just bear with me. Never loaning money again.
