Social media apps

So all social media apps well most are down right now which has me thinking, what if they got everyone used to these took everything else away and no one could communicate? Like landline phones are almost a thing of the past, most don’t have them , I don’t…. no one knows how to use old ways…. So like we need to keep the old ways going Do you think they do this on purpose ? Or is it just a bug ? Am I reading to far into it
