So... What now? (Career confusion)

1 day ago 23

Hi! I am 23 years old, and currently in my final year of bsc in biology. In short: I have no idea what to do with my career afterwards. I live in the EU and most countries don't pay well for research scientist positions. I have researched some master's programs in biotechnology and genetics that seem promising, but I'm not quite positive that this is what I truly want. I'm also interested in medicine but I am too afraid of the commitment it takes. I am a very anxious, yet studious person, but somewhat of a procrasinator (I have diagnosed ADHD but I have become better at managing my time through the years). I am also interested in dentistry but less than medicine. If I decided to get into medical school, I would have to pass some exams first that require approximately a year of studying. So I would be beginning medical school at the age of 24.

Context: In my country medical school lasts 6 years (plus residency), but you can start at 18 (after you pass some very difficult exams in highschool). So in my mind I lost time for no reason. Although because I am going to have a biology bsc, medical school for me is going to be reduced to 5 years (plus residency afterwards).

P.s: I am very immersed into the biology field. I have done multiple internships, I have letters of recommendation and a very good gpa. I am also currently speaking 4 languages including my mother tongue.

Thank you for reading pls help:')
