Popular Fiction with Literary Value

Is there any notable popular fiction that carries real literary value?

Great literature is a central aspect of my personal and professional life, but there are times when I simply don't have the capacity for dead, sad Russians. I have tried a number of different popular fiction books, but about half of them are so poorly written that I give up, even if the plot is interesting. Surely there must be some popular fiction that still carries merit?
