In the past 5 years, I’ve only had genuine fun on only one of my birthdays and that is because I was surrounded by people I love at university. My birthday is in a few days and I’m surrounded by toxic people who are probably going to end up making me feel bad on my birthday itself… I hate birthdays because it creates this weird expectation that it’s my special day but in reality no one really gives a shit. I wish they weren’t a thing, just a reminder of how shitty my life currently is & the fact that I’m getting older.
