New Years idea?

Not sure if this is the correct thread to post this but I'll give it a try.

Of course it's that time of year and the holidays are very close. I am bad about making plans in advance to do things. Even though I can barely make it to midnight anymore, I want to do something for new years.

The trouble is, I'm 35M, single and most of my friends have SO's, their kids (if they have them) and will be doing things with them or have their own things going on with family or whatever even if they are single. I'm also not quite to the point in life where new years eve is "just another night".

I have family that I spend time with during this time of year but deep down I get pretty lonely. There is no therapist that can help me with this kind of thing as they will just tell me to look for a meetup group or something.

I would love to be out with some girls or something but that kind of thing has become harder and harder to do. I'm not a big fan of bar night life, especially with places where you cannot hear someone who is no more than 2ft in front of me. I kind of miss the days when people I knew would do house parties I really haven't been in touch with a lot of people and have somewhat changed who I hang around.

Its a really sucky place to be in. I have spent the past few years staying in not doing anything and it is annoying. I know my biggest problem is not maintaining relationships with "old" friends, or people who are non-work friends.
