My own theory: General Motors is getting rid of CarPlay because they want the Police Union’s contract

Hear me out, I’ve got my own conspiracy, Reddit.

Ford has been the longtime partner to the police - most cars are those Explorer/Interceptors.

People use Waze, which informs them of both hidden and visible police cars that are moneymakers from state down to local counties, and by being informed, people slow down, the popo take in less revenue due to these infractions being avoided.

So GM connected with the Police Union and said “we want to be your car of choice for all police officers nationwide.” And they ran the math to show that if X% of the population wouldn’t be using Waze, then the number of tickets would go up and it would effectively pay for the contract. So GM said, we’ll do this by making it harder to use CarPlay and AndroidAuto, we’ll get rid of it entirely. That way, you can catch speeders now and bridge that revenue gap.

And there you have it. My conspiracy.
