In my search for third person limited amongst classic novels, I’ve come to find out it’s a rare point of view in literary fiction. I’ve went through hundreds of novels and they are all primarily first person or third person omniscient. I was wondering if anyone knew why third person limited wasn’t a popular point of view in older times? I was also hoping I could get recommendations from people that know of books in limited, examples from contemporary fiction would be welcome too. I really enjoy the limited point of view, so thank you for any help.
The ones I’ve found so far in limited:
The Count of Monte Cristo, Red Badge of Courage, Pride and Prejudice, The Giver, The metamorphosis
