Is randomness actually random?

4 hours ago 5

I have been researching recently and have been stuck on this theory for a while. I believe randomness is the illusion left over when we haven’t discovered the full equation. There are scientists working on superdeterminism and hidden variable theories that would agree with this completely. “We’ve just not found the deeper mechanism yet. Once we do, what looks random today will be predictable tomorrow.” Is what they believe.

The biggest part im stuck on here is: If or when we could predict everything:

  • Would we lose free will?
  • Would surprise disappear?
  • Would meaning change?

But maybe the randomness is real… not because it lacks cause, but because we are part of the equation, and we can’t stand outside it.

Sorry for scrambled and maybe hard to read text, I do not know how to word this well at all...

Please help me and let me know what you think
