Honesty without tact is cruelty

I love this quote. We all have come across the people that say, “I’m sorry, I’m just being honest”, or, “I always tell it how it is”. But what a lot of people don’t realize is you can be honest and still be an asshole. This saying has stayed in my brain for quite some time now and I’ve said it to a couple of people that were being honest, but a little harsh. If you are one of those people that consider yourself to be “brutally honest”, before you say what’s on your mind just say, honesty without tact, is cruelty. It could change how you deliver your feedback and it will likely be received better. Everyone wants an honest friend. No one likes an asshole, even if you’re being honest.
