Google searches getting worse on purpose so we get used to using AI?

In recent years, I rarely get what I want out of google and almost always frustrated with the results it gives me, and I end up having to ask Grok the same question and I get the answer I want. Is it possible that google searches got worse on purpose to make us rely more on AI and get used to it? I don't have any proof or anything for this, just an intuition; anyone feel the same?
