For those who found love, did you face "nice guy syndrome" before? How did you overcome it?

I got told by 3 persons (from both genders) that I am "perfect, smart, cultured, interested, sweet, playful, funny, bold,..." (Believe me when I tell you they were generous with compliments) BUT they still friend-zoned me, even tho some expressed erotic interest in me. I am CONFUSED!

What the hell am I doing wrong?? I am not a bad boy and will never be, so if people aren't interested in me because I am somehow dull and lame, then so be it! Sex workers will laugh all the way to the bank (as they should). However, before going rogue, I want to see if some men had the same struggle as me and managed to find love without becoming jerks. How did you do it? What happened? What would you advice me? Please tell me your stories!
