Feeling overwhelmed

Part of my family has been living in the midwest. Haven't been able to move back to the northeast. They rely on snap and only two (of four) members of their household are eligible. One disabled parent, senior in HS, other parent and young adult are unemployed. In six months only one will be eligible. They eat a lot of pasta and rice. There are no employment opportunities there. Their car isn't running. Their recertification was yesterday. An employee said the food pantry that opens one day a week runs out within an hour. "People are starving." The issue has been brought to the attention of the state who in turn says there is nothing they can do. People are starving she said, it is breaking my heart. And scary. I needed a release without compounding the fear others are already feeling for them.
