First, we should say that regardless of the book, directors and writers are different artists and often portray characters, and events in different ways from the original idea. So, let's forget the book for a moment and assume the script writer implies Dorothy as the witch of the south, in The Wizard Of Oz. (rofl btw this has nothing to do with Dr. OZ btw. I just have freee time and thought some might find this enjoyable) Ok, so here's points for her being the fourth witch, who we never see otherwise in the movie: 1 There are three other witches shown in the film, one for each cardinal direction. Dorothy kills the first, when her house lands on her. Spoiler alert sorry. Glenda, the "good witch" (more about Glenda coming up) and then Dorothy's nemisis the wicked witch of the west. Since the witch of the south is never shown we can assume there's one somewhere. 2 The munchkins ask Dorothy plainly when she arrives "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?" 3 The witches we do see in the film have powers of travel, to fly. Dorothy flies in on a south wind, via tornado which is conveniently the direction we see no witch for. Now, here's the ultimate goal: Glenda is actually an evil witch too, and uses Dorothy kinda like the godfather to take out all her rivals, and then send Dorothy back home, so she's the defacto witch over Munchkin Land.... Ladies and gentlemen of the jury I rest my case!
