IMO it was a hit from somebody else in the industry that didn’t want to be exposed (covering their own ass essentially). The public can’t know that these hits are possible or common so we’re gonna be fed a cover-up about how this kid wanted revenge or whatever.
They put a lot of effort and propaganda into making it seem impossible to get away with murder, all that would fall apart if we found out this guy got away with it.
I think the smiling photo they put out ahead of time was so they could always fall back on their backup plan (arresting their plant Luigi Mangione). I mean he’s not even wearing the same jacket or backpack, and his face was covered at the shooting so there was no evidence that the smiling guy was the shooter. The way he gets spotted and arrested at mcdonald’s is also pretty r*tarded, sounds like a poorly written scene out of a movie to me.
