Do you ever stop to look at your whole life so far or imagine your trajectory overall?

There’s a bit of stoic wisdom that strikes me as rather interesting coming from Marcus Aurelius, that is, the notion of discouraging young people from thinking about their whole lives at once: ‘do not disturb yourself by imagining your whole life at once. Don't always be thinking about what sufferings, and how many, might possibly befall you.’

The stoics use the phrase Momento mori to remind themselves of their inevitable end, but also prescribe a cautioning of thinking too far down the line as if what you predict will always come to pass.

What do you think about future tripping? Consequentialism? Free will vs no free will determinism?
