I recently got into Stefan Zweig and absolutely fell in love with his work. His storytelling style really hooked me, lots of plot twists, secrets, and that almost confessional tone like, “This is a very unusual story that was told to me…” (beware of pity) I find his stories to be real page-turners, especially the way characters gradually reveal hidden depths or dark secrets.
I’m looking for other classic (not contemporary) authors with that same kind of immersive, secret-unveiling, plot-rich writing style.
Any underrated classic authors and their work you’d recommend?
