AstroWorld 2021: One of the darkest events of our time—Something was seriously off.

I’ve been to raves. I’ve been to EDM festivals. I’m all for loud, immersive music and trippy visuals. But the vibe at AstroWorld 2021? That was something entirely different, and not in a good way.

This wasn’t the kind of high-energy, euphoric music that makes you want to dance or lose yourself in the moment. It was this relentless, dark, and eerie soundscape blasting at max volume for hours. Watching clips of it even now, it feels like stepping into some kind of black magic ritual. The music felt like it wasn’t there to hype the crowd—it was there to drain you, to unsettle you.

The imagery only amplified the darkness. We’ve all seen the videos—the flames, the demonic visuals, the portal-like stage. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but combined with that oppressive music, it felt like a contagion of negative energy spreading through the crowd. It was hypnotic in the worst way.

And then, the moment everything shifted—when the countdown hit zero. The transition at that point was chilling, like the entire atmosphere had shifted into something far darker. The energy of the event felt like it was feeding off something heavier than just the crowd’s excitement.

Afterwards, I couldn’t stop myself from watching clips of AstroWorld. It wasn’t out of curiosity—it felt like an obsession. Every time I watched, I’d feel heavy, like I’d been infected by that same dark energy. But I had to keep researching, looking deeper into every detail. The more I learned, the darker it felt.

It’s worth noting this was one of the first huge events after the pandemic lockdowns eased—a time when people were desperate for connection and release. Maybe that’s what made the energy so intense. But even then, it felt different. The crowd wasn’t just chaotic or hyped—it was almost like the collective vibe had been intentionally warped.

AstroWorld 2021 wasn’t just a tragedy because of what happened physically. The spiritual energy, the vibe of it all—something was profoundly wrong. I don’t know if it was intentional or just a byproduct of everything going on, but that event stands out as one of the darkest I’ve ever seen.

I’m curious if anyone else has felt this? Have you watched the clips and gotten that same inexplicable urge to keep diving deeper? Or felt the strange heaviness that lingers afterwards? Something was off about AstroWorld, and I don’t think it was all coincidental.
