Are charity work and donations selfish if the donor benefits emotionally or socially?

When we do charity and we give a donation out of the ego, then it is just a good Karma, because there is a selfish intent. We are seeking something from doing it. But when we do good Karma, when there is charitable act or a donation given without seeking anything in return, when we do it as an instrument of God, when we do it without expecting gratitude from the people we serve, seeking anything from those we give to, it is a Divine act of Karma Yoga. And that is not selfish. It is living the life of Divine manifestation.
