am i the only one who feels a much deeper and wider divide among people approaching this current election?

like not even trying to get political but it feels like people are so much more aggressive and nasty about it this time around. it’s becoming a safety concern to display your views for some people and idk about you, but that seems like the opposite of a free nation. why are we like this? because it’s not even just the memes circulating the internet or news sites, it’s actual people i know posting and saying the most concerning and disturbing stuff ive seen yet. is this just what America is like now or is it going to get worse?
