Wind farms are are susceptible to an aerodynamic phenomenon called “wake effect” that can reduce energy production roughly by 10 to 20%. Researchers studied the Block Island Wind Farm to understand how turbulence intensity, power, and thrust coefficients affect wake dynamics.
