Why are so many gory deaths showing up on Instagram reels today?

Has anyone else seen a huge amount of violent content on Instagram Reels today? Seen lots of brutal deaths and just disturbing stuff that normally wouldn’t show up in my feed so often. I thought it was just me, but after talking to friends and coworkers, it seems like this is happening to most people.

What if this is intentional? What if we’re being desensitized to violence because something is about to happen? An event where the average person will watch levels of violence so extreme that under normal circumstances, we’d all be horrified. But if we’ve are being subtly exposed to it (or not so much today), we won’t react as badly as we normally would.

Might even be something like social conditioning? A way to manipulate the public perception so when this event happens, people won’t feel the same level of outrage or judgment toward whoever has done this?

Feels weird.
