What is the deal with Pterodactyls

There was a thread earlier asking about, “things you know you saw but have no way to prove”, a lot of these entries are interesting but it stands out to me that in everybody’s personal experiences, there is quite a few people who say they saw pterodactyls. this is interesting to me because out of all the responses, this one seems to have affected many people present in the same thread. I will say that I personally have never had this experience but I am intrigued to understand if there is a deeper idea behind pterodactyl conspiracies and I would like to hear and personal stories y’all have about witnessing pterodactyls
