What if there was no more Internet Archive? So much for the "Information Age"

The Internet Archive/Wayback Machine was targeted by "Pro-Palestinian hackers" (doubtful) two months ago, taking down the site for an extended period. This attack came after the courts ruling against IA in 2023 and their refusal to adhere. They are also facing court action over sharing pre 1960 LPs in 2016.

This archive is the world's library. It's the data that original creators of published information or libraries with limited physical capacity do not want to store. Typically a local library is a source of material for no-cost sharing, which is particularly beneficial to those with limited means, but a desire to learn, grow, and be inspired.

Turns out the "Information Age" was a short-lived fantasy. IA was sued for $700 million over grainy Billy Holiday songs and less than 900 checked out CS Lewis books. Then again during Covid for implementing emergency exceptions to normal policy allowing people more access to materials. What a bunch of assholes giving people something to do while on totalitarian lockdown.

When someone signs a record deal, the deal includes "the death clause". This allows for an insurance policy to be paid if an artist does not perform due to illness or death. Kurt Cobains death paid out billions in insurance. These contracts are often 20-30 YEARS long.

Journalists and publishing companies are used and responsible for gatekeeping information through via greed and the established global power structure. They manipulate how we project our reality. Ballooning restriction of information and ideas to "paying customers" is not the way.

Information and exchange of information is the purpose of the roads. It's why we have planes, trains, and automobiles. Cyberspace is a logical road. The Internet Archive is a logical library. This library inspires free and rational thought, creativity, wisdom, discernment and hope. It allows people to think outside themselves and their perceptions. Informed and educated people make better decisions.

Are we really going to let these bastards take out the roads of knowledge?

Take the time to GAF about this. They are a lighthouse, they are the only one, and it's on fire.
