I recently finished reading Shirley Jackson's "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" and very much enjoyed it, I noticed the similarities between it and another of my favorite novellas Charlotte Perkins Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper," I found it interesting that all men in both novels seemed to contribute to all the main female characters eventual psychological downfall.
I also noticed the similarity between both of the home/room that all the women characters of both novellas were confined being slowly destroyed as the women delve into their psychosis. I was wondering if anyone knows of any literary articles written on this topic specifically or has any insight? I found this similarity very interesting and would love to read more.
