Using roomates headphones

So I used one of my roomates headphones one time for about an hr just bc they were way better than mine and I wanted to try them out. This was my fault but I didnt ask before using them and one of my other roomates caught me. He got mad and told me I should have told him first and that its unhigienic to wear someone elses headphones. He didnt need them at the time and wasnt even home.

Am I in the wrong? I totally could be and just wanted someone elses take on it. I certainly wont use anything of anybody elses again at least not without asking.
