As many of you know Marcel Proust at first wasn't planning a seven book series, it should have been a 3 part book AFAIK, but when the World War started, and there were paper shortages, and nobody cared about this book so much anymore, he decided to add some things here and there, and voilá, we now have this epic work.
But I think that it would be better, if it were shorter, more concise and to the point. The book would be more like War and Peace in size, still quite big. Marcel Proust was a great writer (mostly) but a terrible editor.
I've recently finished Sodom and Gomorrah, and I almost lost my interest, to be honest. And the relationship with Albertine near the end feels very fake, not believable, unmotivated.
