Short stories, plays or music on the American dream

Hey I really need some help, I have an assignment that pertains to the American dream. I though want to focus on the negative or more darker side of the American dream like racism, class struggle, sexism etc. As much as I'd like to include novels in it, I don't have enough time as my professor wants it by the 21st (I've got more assignments due) a movie would do too since I can watch that!
