Remember when the UK government told citizens to register poultry?

The UK government passed a new law requiring anyone who owned chickens to register their details with the government. This had absolutely nothing to do with control over peoples lives and the ability to feed themselves, it was to help combat the spread of viruses.

Well, the British people promptly went down to the supermarket, bought roast chickens, and crashed the government website registering the new chickens they have in their refrigerator.

This is protest and comedy gold all mixed into one.
