I’m looking to possibly read something from these three authors, but I have a few questions about their work. I prefer to do a little bit more research before reading a book to make sure that I’m not getting into something I suspect I may not like
For Murakami, I’ve heard that he includes weird sexual situations in his books. Is this in all of his books, and is this true? How bad is it? I’ve had his work recommended to me several times, but this is the one thing that makes me not want to read his work. I find it very unappealing when authors include things like this.
Graham Greene is another author I’m interested in, but I’ve never read any of his work. What are the highlights of his writing, and what would you list as some of his best?
I’ve read high praise for Patrick O’Brian’s Master and Commander series. Thoughts on his work, writing, characterization, etc.
If anyone has had experience with these authors, I would appreciate their opinions about their books.
