"Plastic image": description of poetry

I've come across the notion of plastic image(s) many times in the descripton of poetry, but cannot fully grasp the meaning that it refers to.

I know it is a figurative use of the adjective plastic, but cannot ever interpretated in context.

Some definition and examples would help.
