Phobias

Why are most phobias for things that don’t kill us (snakes, enclosed places, spiders, the dark, heights, public speaking) while we like to do things that can actually kill us (fast cars, opioids, knives, guns, junk food)?

Why are we afraid of the less harmful and seek the more harmful?
