I know these terms categories are somewhat opposed, but I’m sure you’ll understand. As Blood Meridian and Frankenstein are westerns and Sci-Fi horror, I’m obsessed with this overlap. Excellent, well written books that explore theme and character, AND have genre elements.
My examples given are the best I could come up with as well as the two most exciting novels I’ve read in a long time. The language, the emotion, the imagery. There’s something special about that laborious language (if done right) and I’m craving more!
I’ve read of McCarthy, and have my next Shelly lined up, but what about other writers?
Thanks in advance!
