It’s a crushing reality to accept that I’ll probably never be rich or wealthy enough to escape working a soul-draining job. My future is destined to revolve around a job I don’t care about (and probably hate, because I hate working in general), endlessly stressing over bills, rent, and expenses, just another prisoner to money with no real freedom.
I’ve looked through Reddit and other sites where people had similar concerns, but none of the responses were convincing enough to change my perspective. I just can’t fathom spending most of my waking hours doing things I hate, with no real freedom to live how I want. On top of that, working nonstop isn’t even helping people get ahead anymore because of skyrocketing prices. I could afford to move out of my parents house, but only if I had a roommate, and I don’t want one. The fact that simply having my own space requires a fuck ton of money that I don’t have is just absurd.
If you’re just an average person, your entire survival depends on a job. A soulless corporation that couldn’t care less about you is the only thing keeping you afloat. Your boss could fire you at any moment without warning, and suddenly, you’re struggling to keep up with rent and bills. And with how awful the job market is, finding another job in that situation could take forever. It doesn't matter whether you make $50k a year or $100k a year. No job is truly stable.
Some people might be content with an average life (idk how its possible), but I know for a fact that’s impossible for me. When you break it down, rich people objectively have it better. They have complete freedom. They can travel anytime, eat whenever they want, and do whatever they please. They don’t have to ask a boss for permission to take a break, take time off when they’re sick. Meanwhile average people can literally lose their jobs just for calling out sick or requesting a vacation at the wrong time. They simply do what they want, whenever they want.
I don’t get why people online try to downplay the impact of being rich, acting like wealth has no real connection to happiness. It’s as if they ignore the obvious reality that having money eliminates the constant stress of bills, job insecurity, and basic survival. Being rich doesn’t guarantee happiness, but it undeniably provides freedom, security, and options. Things the average person spends their entire life chasing.
There are so many things I wish I could experience in life, but I know I’ll never be able to do the most meaningful ones because I’ll never be rich. Then you have people who just say, "You just need to work harder, bro," as if that’s some kind of solution. In reality, it’s nothing more than a trap. Just a shallow, dismissive response that ignores how terrible this system is.The idea that "hard work always pays off" is a fucking scam lie fed to people so they keep grinding endlessly, hoping for an outcome that will never come.
Life is a fucking joke.
